John Thomas Salley was born on the 16th May 1964, in Brooklyn, New York City USA of American and African ancestry. He is a former professional basketball player, widely know for playing as a center and power forward in the NBA, for different teams including the “Miami Heat”, “Chicago Bulls”, and “Los Angeles Lakers”. He is also recognized not only as actor, but as a talk show host of “The Best Damn Sports Show Period”, which was aired on the Fox Sports Net.

John Salley was raised in Brooklyn, where he attended the elementary school. He started showing interest in basketball and playing while he was at Canarsie High School, after which he continued education at the Georgia Tech’s College of Management, from which he got a degree in 1988. He was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. While Salley was in college, he established the college blocked shot record and received third-team All-American selection as well as gaining the rare honour of having his number retired..

Selected by the Pistons in the first round of the 1986 NBA Draft, he played for them until 1992 when he was traded to Miami Heat. During his time with Pistons, Salley won two NBA Championship rings, in 1989 and 1990.

In 1992 he signed a contract with Miami Heat, but he wasn`t required after three seasons, and was sent to Toronto Raptors in 1995., but decided to buy out his contract, and subsequently signed with the Chicago Bulls, and in his first season won third NBA Championship ring, alongside Michael Jordan, Dennis Rodman and Scottie Pippen among his teammates, adding further to his net worth. However, after the season ended, Salley decided to retire from the NBA, but later signed a contract with Greek team Panathinaikos, two play a few games.

Sally wasn`t ready yet to quit basketball for good, as he signed a contract with the Los Angeles Lakers for one year in 1999, and won his fourth NBA Championship ring. After retirement he broadly boasted that he ‘… won four rings with three different teams in three different decades and two different millennia…’

After retiring, John has also made several film appearances, including roles in films “Bad Boys” (1995), “Bad Boys II” (2003) playing hacker Fletcher, and “Confessions Of A Shopaholic” (2011) as D. Freak. Besides that, he has starred in a number of TV series, such as “Malcolm & Eddie” (1997-1998) in the role of Lt. Stanley Proctor, “Come To Papa” (2004) as Mailman, and “Sin City Saints” (2015) playing Tom. All these have also added to the overall amount of his fortune.

Additional to his acting, John Salley has appeared as host in different TV sports shows – “The Best Damn Sports Show Period” on the Fox channel, and “NBA Showtime”, which have also contributed to his net worth.
